Artist Statement
Painting is a meditation for me, whether I am on a mountainside, a beach, or standing in my studio. There is a timelessness that comes with connecting to the feeling of a place, translating the scene with shapes and colors onto a canvas and creating a memory of it. Each one has its own story. For all of those reasons, I am drawn to landscapes and waterscapes.
I hold a Masters Degree from the University of Virginia and have studied with artists from the McGuffey Art Center, the Beverly Street Studio Gallery, and the University of Virginia. I began my career as an artist several years ago upon retiring from my profession as an educator and counselor of children.
It is my hope that my paintings uplift and give as much joy to the viewers as creating them has given me.
